

The Manzanares River is in full bloom in spring. There are many more birds along the river, and rare species now become more common and rise their numbers. The river recovers most of its vegetation, as well as the number of herbivorous animals and their predators.
An area which barely allows any live in winter, now it is a refuge for more than 115 documented bird species, and other animals as green lizards, terrapins, fish, and butterflies.
Come and enjoy watching the rich fauna of the river, very close to Madrid city center, and led by a naturalist guide who will give you a profound insight into the world of the Manzanares fauna.
This guided tour is focused on the observation of wildlife, as such you will learn about the urban fauna of the Manzanares river in Madrid city. Besides you will have the chance to walk from Madrid downtown to the city's nearby countryside.
In our tour you stroll down from Matadero-Madrid, near Legazpi square, at Madrid-Río Park, to the fields and farms of the Manzanares, in a 6 kilometers walk through parks, urban pathways, and sport areas.
We meet at the gate of Matadero-Madrid heading to Legazpi Square (Legazpi Metro station). From there we start a 2-3 hours route along the Manzanares River.
The tour takes you through the South Junction, to the Manzanares Lineal Park, where we finish near Caja Mágica, 10 minutes walk distance from Metro and 15 from Cercanias train station.
Our Special Recommendations: We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes and shoes, according to the weather conditions, as well as sunglasses and solar protection. We invite you to bring your own binoculars, telescopes o cameras. Our expert field biologist Aitor Galán, will bring a telescope for close observations. Even if there are a few bars and terraces along the route it would be better to pack some snacks and water.
